Famous Buddhist Temples throughout the World
Buddhism is a widely recognized religion throughout the world. To show just how popular it really is, all one has to do is to look at the number of Buddhist temples that exist around the globe. Many of these are modest in nature however others are world-renowned for one reason or another. Some of the more famous Buddhist temples will be highlighted to give individuals a glimpse into the various structures and reasons for their individual popularity besides their wonderful teachings.
Kotokuin Temple in Japan
One of the more popular Buddhist temples is that of Kotokuin Temple in Japan. This temple houses the Great Buddha of Kamakura which is a statute made of bronze showing Amida Buddha. The Great Buddha of Kamakura is 13.35 meters high and stands outside of the temple where it has been since the 15th century.
Bulguksa in South Korea
If one is looking to view a marvel of a Buddhist temple in South Korea, then Bulguksa is the place to go. With its spectacular architecture and serene air about it, Bulguksa provides visitors with a glimpse into a true Buddhist temple. One will not only get to view beautiful architecture on the outside but a wonderful vision of Buddhist symbols on the inside.
Bodhi Temple in India
This is an extremely famous Buddhist temple not only in India but throughout the world. The Bodhi temple is where Buddha came into existence. Buddha, formerly known as Prince Sidhartha, saw a light under the Bodhi tree and became the enlightened one. The tree which is present at the Bodhi temple today is said to have grown due to the original Bodhi tree which existed long ago.
